Wow, where did summer go – it’s flown by and here we are in autumn already. I’m hoping for a warm March to gain extra mileage from the summer clothes I still adore! Think back to winter/spring 2020 amid the pandemic and what we were reaching for every day. Athleisure and lounge-wear took on a whole new meaning and dominated fashion trends along with the lifestyle changes we were faced with.

Get ready for the new wave on casual attire and make room in your wardrobe for ‘Ath-Flow’ wear this autumn. This trend is going to reign supreme as we make our way back to the office in comfort and style!

Autumn 2021 offers a beautiful blend of lounge and activewear with a twist of modern and dressier fabrications. Defined as roomy enough to be athletic, yet still stylish with a touch of sartorial elegance. To embody this trend think super comfy oversized garments and outfits, flowy and baggy trousers, oversized cardigans and sweaters, exaggerated puff sleeves, wide-bottomed leggings, palazzo and ponti pants, and the beloved casual jumpsuit.

Autumn will see collections reflecting function and flair for empowered women on the go – think monograms stamped on leather bags, hosiery and gleaming gold pendants – warm coloured girls rejoice! Feminine meets comfort in luxurious silk slips and cami bras, a great multi-purpose layering item for the cooler weather. Slick knee-high boots are back after a few seasons and I believe we’ll even see them in white.

Bring summer into autumn with pleated wool shorts and luxe cosy coats in warm shades of camel and brown, off white and taupe. Comfort continues with ‘easy to move in’ slinky knit dresses, cashmere crops, timeless trench coats and accessories galore, from hair barrettes to slouchy, practical oversized handbags for the busy woman.

The perfect autumn office outfit – it seems that no matter the season the modern matching suit set just gets better. Check and plaid continue to be huge again this season, and if you desire to step out in a brightly coloured one now is the time.

The sneaker style continues to dominate as a wardrobe staple in 2021- there’s a pair or five for every person and for nearly every outfit and occasion. The humble sneaker isn’t immune to its own categories of micro-trends, having seen various reinventions over the past several seasons, including everything from colourful, chunky, flat and heeled.
