I’ve often written about the ‘cost per wear’ of our wardrobe items and how to best utilize them. Getting them to work hard for you is key and maintaining value long after you’ve bought them.
Let’s take this simple two tone button down blouse for instance. This is the sort of garment you could achieve a lot from while having fun and expressing who you are through what you put with it.

For weekend wear team with a pair of either skinny or straight jeans. A shirt in a soft fabric like chiffon will be easier to tuck without creating too much bulk if you love to tuck. Otherwise, leaving it out to hang and drape will be super comfy and hide a mid-section area if you need to. Because the blouse has a reasonable amount of volume opt for the skinny jean to avoid looking swamped. Now have fun and add a bag and shoes that offer some zing! Animal print is timeless and brings colour balance to an outfit very easily. Or look for a two toned shoe like the blouse – ‘Or look for a two tone shoe to harmonise with the blouse – spots, stripes, patterns and florals are all fabulous options.

This blouse is perfect for the office as well – classy, professional and timeless. Pair with business pants or skirt to complete a classic work style along with a good quality leather bag and closed toe shoes. As the blouse is a neutral (cream and off white) it’s less noticeable than a colour would be – this allows you to wear it as much as you like and also bring into your evening wardrobe. Just simply team it with some leather or fake leather pants, funky patterns or animal print stilettos and a metallic clutch – very classy and comfortable!

As you can see a simple yet gorgeous chiffon blouse in a neutral is so versatile, and makes up many lovely options, but without looking boring or the ‘same old same old’.
