Have you ever thought about what your style recipe might be?
Just like a favourite recipe has the perfect combination of ingredients, your personal style is created by blending together the qualities that genuinely reflect who you are. When you understand your own style recipe, getting dressed becomes easier, shopping becomes more successful, and your wardrobe starts working for you rather than against you.
As an Image, Colour & Style Consultant, I’ve now worked with hundreds of women over the years, and one thing I’ve learnt is this: once someone truly understands their personality style/s, they make far better shopping decisions and enjoy wearing their clothes so much more.

My own style recipe is a great example – Sporty Meets Style. I love relaxed clothing that suits my lifestyle, but it still needs to look stylish, flatter my physical dimensions and be in my deep, warm & toasty ‘Exotic’ colour palette. That’s what makes it feel authentically me.

Where To Begin
So, where do you begin?
Start by writing down as many words as you can that genuinely describe your personality. Don’t think about fashion just yet—think about you. Then narrow your list down to the three to six words that best capture who you are.
Perhaps your words are:
classic, polished, feminine, creative, sporty, relaxed, elegant, confident, natural, modern or vibrant.
These words become your style filter. Every time you’re considering a new purchase, ask yourself, “Does this garment reflect my style recipe?” If the answer is no, it’s probably not the right investment, no matter how tempting it is.
Your style recipe also makes shopping far less overwhelming. It helps you avoid impulse purchases, resist persuasive sales staff and stay focused on building a wardrobe you’ll actually wear and love for years to come.
One of the biggest mistakes I see is people falling in love with clothing on the hanger rather than on themselves. Always try garments on if you can. Move around, sit down, look at yourself from every angle and ask, “Does this feel like me?” If it doesn’t, leave it behind.F
Finding Inspiration
Finally, collect inspiration. Save images that genuinely resonate with you—not because they’re fashionable, but because they reflect your personality and the way you want to present yourself. It might be a beautifully tailored blazer, a favourite handbag, a colour combination you adore, or someone whose style consistently inspires you.
After a while, you’ll begin to notice a pattern. Those images will reveal your style recipe and give you confidence every time you shop or get dressed.
The most stylish people aren’t those who follow every trend. They’re the ones who understand who they are and dress in a way that reflects it beautifully
