Similar to that of the ‘H’ shape, the ‘I’ is a narrower more slimmer version with perfectly balanced shoulder and hip width. Like the ‘H’ shape, there is very little definition through the waist of an ‘I’, and is often described as a boyish and lean shape. This shape however, should place emphasis at the waist highlighting it with detail as much as possible. This shape, like the ‘H’ can be short between the rib cage and the pelvis, however, not always – Cameron Diaz and Nicole Kidman are good examples of the ‘I’ shape. This is the shape that fairs well when curves are created through fabric & design details to give them a more womanly figure.

Bather choices…

1. Bathers with wide and high contrast horizontal stripes/lines are a great way to create curves and width to the lean straight ‘I’ shape person.

2. Padded bather tops are a must for the small busted women to give some volume and fullness.

3. Tiered style bather tops or those with flounces will add great curves at the bust.

4. One piece bathers that are designed with a high neckline will also give the illusion of a larger bust and reveal less skin hiding a lean bony upper body.

5. Tops with textured thick fabrics will add tones of good volume and fullness.

6. Choose large patterns with a large negative space to create fullness and curves.

7. Light bright colours will advance making the ‘I’ shape person appear larger.

8. Go for high waisted bather bottoms that give you good cover whist adding the illusion of some curves.
