More Spring Fashion Favorites!
My last post was on the trackie jeans, be sure to read up on how to wear these also! My second favorite item for spring is the midi culottes – also referred to as a skort. Culottes are shorts that hang and look like a skirt due to the additional fabric and vertical splits up the front. They look more like a classic A-line skirt than shorts due to their wide hemline and lean waist design.
These won’t appeal to everyone, but do look great when worn correctly on the right person. While the midi is huge this season, it is however, one of those tricky trends due to the length. Midis traditionally sit at the mid calf which is usually a wide point for most people thus widening and shortening the legs.
It is possible to find a midi that falls just a fraction lower than the widest point allowing for a little more length, and less widening of the calf area. For added height and elongation simply team with a heel in your skin colour to avoid any colour break. If you have long slim legs the midi shouldn’t be a problem. And to avoid feeling swamped simply apply less fabric on top.
My third favorite spring item is the espadrille flats, also know as drillies! These eco-friendly antibacterial comfy casual flats (come in heels too) have been around for centuries. The soles are hand made exclusively using natural jute fibre making drillies strong, lightweight and flexible. Traditionally espadrilles are made with a canvas upper, but do come in cotton and leather also. The variety of colours for spring is wide so it will be easy to pick a pair or two to work in with your spring wardrobe!
