Many clients coming for their colour sessions are wondering whether their eyewear suits their colouring & their face.
So here are some of my top tips for wearing glasses…
If you have to wear glasses, why not have a drop-dead gorgeous pair that suits you perfectly? There are several key details to consider when choosing the right eyewear.
Start by selecting glasses in colours that match your natural colouring – your eyes and glasses are the first things people notice. Don’t be afraid to choose bold, colourful glasses. As we age and lose melanin, our colouring can become less vibrant. To add impact, consider hues like red, yellow, and green, which are associated with youth and energy.
To create a harmonious and balanced appearance, focus on the shape of your facial features rather than just your face shape. If you have small features, opt for lighter frames. For larger features, choose heavier, more robust frames. Curved frames complement soft, curvaceous features, while angular frames highlight sharper, more chiseled features.
Ensure the frame width matches the widest part of your face to avoid making your cheeks the focus and your face appear fuller. High temple placement elongates a short face, giving it an oval appearance.
For a prominent nose, select frames with a lower bridge to shorten its look. If you have a tiny nose, choose a bridge that sits right at the top of your nose to avoid shortening it further.
Adjust the bridge style based on eye spacing – a narrow, heavy bridge draws eyes closer, while a lighter, wider bridge makes them appear farther apart.
Balance a broad forehead with detailed lower frames, and for a strong jawline, opt for a heavy top bar or rimless bottom design. Consider the depth of your glasses as well rimless or half-rimless frames elongate a short face, avoiding multiple horizontal lines that shorten it.
If you have a longer shaped face such as oblong, then the depth of your frames can be longer and more varied.
Lastly, have fun with your eyewear, make a statement and match it to your own unique personality.
