Gorgeous regular client Wendy and I headed off for an eyewear shopping session and absolutely nailed it while having fun! After many successful shopping trips together over the years, this time we focused purely on finding the perfect glasses and sunnies.
Wendy stepped a little outside her comfort zone and chose a fabulous pair of red frames, which looked incredible against her cool colouring. We also found the most beautiful sunnies in a cool blue-grey (frame & lens) to harmonise perfectly with her cool undertone. The result? Sophisticated, flattering, modern and just the right amount of statement.
Eyewear to Suit
If you have to wear glasses every single day, then why not choose a pair that are absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and truly enhance your features? Your glasses sit front and centre on your face, right near your eyes – so colour, shape, scale and detail all make a huge difference.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is choosing frames that are practical but don’t actually suit their colouring or facial features. The right colour can instantly brighten the complexion, soften shadows and make the eyes sparkle. And don’t be afraid of colour! As we age, we naturally lose some brightness and contrast in our colouring, so adding touches of vibrant red, teal, green or soft jewel tones can create a far more youthful and energetic appearance.
When selecting frames, it’s also important to consider the scale and shape of your facial features rather than just focusing on face shape alone. Softer, curvier features are beautifully complemented by more rounded or contoured frames, while stronger or more angular features can carry bolder, sharper designs with ease.
Frame width matters too. Ideally, your glasses should align with the widest part of your face to create balance and harmony. The bridge placement, depth of the frame and detailing can also subtly alter proportions helping to elongate, soften or balance different features.
Eyewear should never feel like an afterthought. It’s one of the most important accessories you wear and can completely transform your overall look. Most importantly, have fun with it and let your personality shine through
