Autumn Colours

I love the beginning of a new season, and apart from spring, autumn is my favourite. I think it has a lot to do with the traditional autumn colours which happen to be my colour palette. The soft, deep and toasty warm hues of autumn are here this season which I think is only fitting. We’ll see lots of earthy natural tones found in nature around this time of year – think autumn leaves falling from the trees – beautiful!

Don’t these autumn hues match my website well – love love love!!

It’s disappointing to see so much black and grey in the stores at the change of a fresh – but still very warm season as those cool neutrals don’t reflect autumn at all. Still, many will gravitate towards them yet again as they’re easy to settle for. Try to embrace colour if you update your wardrobe this autumn, and add colour that will allow you to glow and smile.

This is what Pantone has to say about this A/W 2016’s colour trend.

For Autumn/Winter 2016/17 we explore colour that is “real” and “unreal”, absent and present and a mixology of what is in between. We are polarised between colours that are simple, honest and unassuming and stronger more saturated tones that make a bold statement. They are here. “An umbrella of accord”. Earthy Neutrals. A Landscape of hope, fun and all things Natural Fashion: Boho, Hippie as well as Naughty Twenties. These colours are for both men and women. This is the first time we are seeing a completely unisex colour palette”.

So what to wear for autumn…

The list is long, however we’re still seeing a repeat of items that we’ve seen for the last few years such as: faux fur, puffer vests, loose fitting jumpers, tassel and fringed ponchos, suede dresses, the 70’s look, layered shirts and jumpers, buttoned thigh length skirts, shirt dresses, knit wraps, shawl neck cardigans, calf length cardigans, sleeveless cardigans, mock neck knits, long line sleeveless cable knits, long line and boyfriend cardigans, tube and pencil skirts.

The newest items with a point of difference seem to be a large variety of new styles in denim.

Denim culottes, midi and mini denim skirts, bell style jeans, straight jeans rather than the skinny style, denim overalls and play suits, large cuff boyfriend jeans and boyfriend shirts.

Casual white sneakers, flat points, peep toes boots, above the knee boots, ankle boots and brogues.

Take into consideration what will really works for you when looking at or trying on anything new, and remember there will be variations of all of the above which makes choosing easier.

Have fun shopping in the stores this autumn.
